The Facts: There is a single instance in the vast Rabbinic literature prior to 1900 of an ELS (Rabbenu Bachaya) in the Torah and it is not minimal. The Ramak mentions dilugim as one of several methods of deducing hidden information from the Torah but in the next sentence, he says we no longer understand how to use these methods. These are the only references that the proponents normally give.
